Turks And Caicos Islands – What Are The Main Cities To Discover

Turks and Caicos Islands are some of the most beautiful places in the Caribbean.  This destination located in the southern tip of the Bahamas but isn’t as popular as some better-known locations around it.

But the Turks and Caicos Islands are a perfect getaway for people who want to avoid tourist crowds. The region has seven primary islands, along with 40 small islands and isolated cays. Here’s a look at some of its most beautiful cities you can explore while living in a Long Bay Beach luxury villa:

  1. Cockburn Town

Cockburn Town is the capital of Turks and Caicos Islands, but you’ll never know that from the looks of it. The city looks laid back, sedate, and has a distinctive rustic charm. The area becomes a little chaotic when cruise ships disembark at the ship center, but the city remains calm for the most part.

It has a beautiful waterfront, several quaint shops, and is a great base for diving. You can also visit the Turks and Caicos National Museum, HM Prison, and the General Post Office here. Cockburn Town is located in Providenciales, which means it’s not very far from your Long Bay Beach luxury villa.

  1. West Road Beach

West Roach Beach is located on the Grand Turk Island, is a very popular snorkeling spot, and has calm waters, sandy beaches, and beautiful underwater corals. You can visit The Salt House museum, Grand Turk Lighthouse, and other such attractions. West Road Beach is close to Cockburn Town, so you can visit both cities in one day. Visitors can also enjoy pleasant cocktails and delicious food at several excellent dining establishments.

  1. Grand Turk

Grand Turk is one of the most laid back but popular destinations in the Turks and Caicos Islands. You won’t find much shopping and partying opportunities here, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be bored. The area offers snorkeling, sailing, boating, and fishing opportunities.

The latter is a popular sport, and you can find mahi-mahi, tuna, wahoo, and several other varieties here. Grand Turk has some great locally-owned restaurants and eateries. If you want to take a break away from relaxing in a Long Bay Beach luxury villa and explore the environment, this is the right choice.

  1. Wheeland

Wheeland is a small community and primarily a residential area. This community is still a little underdeveloped and holds on to a truly rustic vibe. You won’t find many tourists here, which makes it an ideal getaway. Wheeland Ponds are some of the most exciting aspects of this region. It was a sand quarry, but now mostly consists of little ponds with brackish water. That can attract ample birdlife, which makes this a heaven for birdwatchers.

  1. Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain is a thriving community with several private residences and a large number of luxury rental villas. Blue Mountain doesn’t have many white, sandy beaches, but it does have popular snorkeling spots. The peak of Blue Mountain is the highest point of Providenciales. You can enjoy stunning views of nearby Blue Hills, Turtle Cove, Thompson Cove, Downtown, and the North Coast Barrier reef.

  1. Salt Cay

If you’re looking for a unique experience, visit Salt Cay. This island falls in the path of migrating humpback whales. Nearby waters serve as mating and nursery regions for these magnificent creatures, so you’re bound to spot a few whales during a visit. Salt Cay is untouched by the tourism industry and is one of the few isolated places in the region. You can enjoy its untouched beauty during a short visit away from the main towns.

There are several great cities to explore in Turk and Caicos, and they’re very different from metropolitan hotspots like LA or New York. You can enjoy the ultimate comfort of Long Bay Beach luxury villa and explore untamed waters of the Caribbean at the same time.
